Go back to the beginning of the chapter, and notice that Satan will not be able to deceive the nations until or “till the thousand years should be fulfilled.”  Revelation 20:3.

Isaiah says of this time,  “And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in a pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.”
Isaiah 24:22.

The lost will be raised from their prison house of death.

As the Bible says,  “But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.”
Revelation 20:5.

Let us look at these events in chart form.

Second    Coming                          OVERCOMERS IN HEAVEN

                                                   Investigative judgment of the lost

                         __________________________________________________________________

Resurrection                     Earth’s 1000-year Sabbath rest                   Resurrection
of the righteous                               Satan bound                                       of the lost

At the end of the verse are the words, “This is the first resurrection.”
Revelation 20:5.    It looks like those who rise after the thousand years come up in the first resurrection, but this is not correct.   In actual fact, the words about the rest of the dead should be in brackets, as the above sentence refers to those who are in heaven.

Continuing on in the next verse, “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”
Revelation 20:6.

Thus, the first resurrection is the resurrection of the righteous to receive immortality, and the second resurrection is the resurrection of the lost to be brought to judgment.

“Marvel not at this:  for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,  And shall come forth;  they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;  and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
John 5:28.29.

The first resurrection will be at the return of Christ.  “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:  and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds….  and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16.17.

At that time, “in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:  for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption… and this mortal shall have put on immortality….”
1 Corinthians 15:52-54.

What a glorious day!

God’s beloved saints will rise with glorified bodies; all signs of suffering will be gone forever.   Disease will be replaced with perfect health, and age with eternal youth.

Yes, the first resurrection is at the return of Jesus, and the second after the thousand years.

Dear Reader, there is something vitally important we need to study at this point – the subject of death.

What is it?

It is the cessation of life.   It is not living in another sphere, in a spirit realm with immortal souls.

You see, the soul is not immortal.

This might come as a shock, but you need to understand before we continue.

Generally Christians believe that the soul is immortal.  Many dictionaries speak of the soul as immortal, and leaving the body at death.  My secular dictionary says, ‘the spiritual part of man; human being; spirit.’  This is quite a good explanation.   But our understanding must not come from the dictionary.  We must compare Scripture with Scripture to gain a true understanding of the subject.

Let us go back to the Garden of Eden.

When God told Adam and Eve they would die if they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, it meant they would go back to the dust.   He did not say their soul or spirit would go to heaven and the body would turn to dust.

He said, “… out of it (the dust) wast thou taken:  for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
Genesis 3:19.

Notice the wording of the creation of Adam.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;  and man became a living soul.”
Genesis 2:7.

Did the Creator put a soul in man?     No.

The Bible formula is:

DUST + BREATH = LIVING SOUL

The Hebrew word for ‘soul’ is nephesh, which means life, person, creature, being, person, man.   So we can translate the above text, “man became a living person.”
(Nephesh can also apply to fish and other creatures, so we would use the word ‘creature’, rather than person in that case)

Where did the idea originate that man would not die?

Let us listen to Eve’s conversation with the devil through the serpent in the Garden of Eden.

“And he
(the devil via the serpent), ‘Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”  Genesis 3:1.

Instead of ignoring the talking animal, Eve replied, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”
Genesis 3:2.3.   Eve actually added to the word of God by saying not to ‘touch it’.

“And the serpent said unto the woman, ‘Ye shall not surely die.”
Genesis 3:4.

Did you catch the subtlety and the lie?

This is where the deception arose, and sadly, almost all of Christendom is deceived.

The world’s heathen religions have various beliefs relating to the dead, but all involve an immortal soul.  The ancient Egyptian is probably the best known.   The necessities of life were placed in the pyramid with the dead pharaoh that the soul might enjoy the afterlife.

Both Catholics and Protestants believe the soul to be immortal.

How often have you heard the bereaved say, ‘At least I know she is in heaven’ or ‘He is in a better place’.
(Even Michael Jackson is believed to be in heaven, according to his family)

Few Christians have studied the subject from the Bible, but it is essential we do so.   The Word of God is our ONLY defence against the deceptions of the devil.

What if a dead loved one supposedly entered your bedroom one night?     What would you think?

What if they looked exactly like your deceased husband
(wife, daughter or son)?   And sounded like them?   And said things no one else knew?

You would believe.

But how would you know?  Perhaps it is the devil impersonating your beloved?    After all, he has been around a long time.    He hears all the secrets.    He knows what they look like.   He knows the sound of their voice.

The Deceiver is deceptive and clever.

(Many men and women are being visited by those who claim to be departed loved ones.   I visited a lady who said her husband comes every night and she looks forward to his visits.   At times she can see him;  other times he is invisible, but when he sits on the bed, it moves downwards where he is sitting.  It could happen to any of us, if we ‘invite’ him through carelessness)

There is only one way you can be certain  --  the Bible.

This is how Jesus answered the devil, “It is written”.
Matthew 4:4.7.10.

What does the Bible say?

“But man dieth and wasteth away:  yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?…  So man lieth down, and riseth not:  till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.”
Job 14:10.12.

When will the heavens be no more?

At the return of Jesus.

Job continues, “If a man die, shall he lived again?  All the days of my appointed time will I wait,  till my change come.  Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee.”
Job 14:14.15.   (Reincarnation is also false)

No immortal soul flies to its heavenly home.   It is dust until the resurrection.

Christ’s resurrection is the Christian’s hope.  As He was resurrected from the dead, so will the saints at His return.  Then they will receive immortality, never to die again.

In the meantime we are to “seek for… immortality, eternal life.”
Romans 2:7.

It makes a big difference what you believe for the rest of the chapter.

All who rise in the first resurrection will receive immortality which enables them to live for eternity.   The dead who are raised in the second resurrection do not receive immortality.   They rise as mortal beings, and will die a second time.

This is so very important to understand.

                             1st resurrection                                         2nd resurrection
Immortality as a gift                                      No immortality

“the gift of God is eternal life”                   “the wages of sin is death”

Romans 6:23.                                             Romans 6:23.

What happens at the end of the millennium?

“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison.”
Revelation 20:7.

Suddenly the devil and his angels will see the lost dead rise from their dusty ashen graves.    His anger will turn to an unholy joy --- here are people he can deceive!

Imagine the activity among the evil host.

Satan watches men and women rise from the broken earth who he knew well in life --  giants, pygmies, slaves, soldiers, presidents, kings, queens, popes, dictators, war mongers, murderers, rapists, liars, pornographers, drunkards, adulterers, agnostics, atheists, evolutionists, scientists, professing Christians, and millions of average men and women, the “number of whom is as the sand of the sea.”
Revelation 20:8.

What a surprise for the majority who believed they would be buried and become food for worms – nothing else.

Others thought they would be in heaven, simply because they believed in God.    Still others thought they were Christians, but the wedding garment was not upon them.  Some will say, “Lord, Lord…
(have we not) in thy name done many wonderful works?”, but Jesus will say, “I never knew you.”   Matthew 7:22.23.

To these and others He will say, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”   Matthew 25:41.
(Notice that the fire was prepared for the devil and his angels and not for human beings.   God wanted all to be saved, but not all desire to be.  Thus they will share the fate of Satan and his angels)

Yes, there will be a wide array of deceived and lost human beings.   They actually chose their fate, whether by deliberate choice or by refusing to consider the subject of religion and salvation.

Now notice, their resurrection is not to immortality.  It is to mortality.   As they went to the grave – sick, deformed, angry, fearful – so they will come up.

It doesn’t matter to the devil -- now he has people to deceive.

Before we continue, look at what else is happening.

“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband…”
Revelation 21:2.

“And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.”
Revelation 21:10.

When the thousand years have ended, God releases the holy city from its present position in space, and allows it to slowly descend to the earth.
(I believe, as do many others, that the holy city will come down through the corridor of the Orion Nebula, the middle star of the sword, or as we see it in the Southern Hemisphere, the middle star in the handle of the saucepan.   Check it out in the night sky.  Look up Astronomy books and you will see that this nebula is a huge cavern, and not a star at all.  Many astronomers say it is the most beautiful place in the heavens)

God’s redeemed people will come down with the city, following Jesus as He returns to the earth a third time.

At some point of their descent, but in full view of the earth, the wicked are raised at the word of the Lifegiver and they watch the city descend.

Jesus steps on the earth “and his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley…”
Zechariah 14:4.

It is here that Jesus will prepare a place for the city to rest.

Please remember that all the Old Testament prophecies were to be fulfilled to the Jews if they had been faithful. Many Jewish families still await the descent of the Beis Hamikdosh as portrayed in a children’s book entitled ‘What Will the World be Like?’  It says, “We’ll see the third Beis Hamikdosh;  Before our very eyes.  It will be bright and beautiful;  And come down from the skies!”
p22.

(I purchased this book at Golds, a Jewish bookshop, some years back.  Beis Hamikdosh means literally ‘house the holy’ or the Holy Temple.  The third temple is what Israel is waiting for now, many believing it will be built when Messiah arrives, others that it will descend from heaven.  Some rabbis dispute a descending city, saying it is a Christian belief from the book of Revelation, and not in the Hebrew Bible)

If the Jewish nation had accepted the Messiah, the new Jerusalem would eventually have descended before their eyes into this great valley.   The prophecy will still be fulfilled when the New Jerusalem descends, although the place of the Mount of Olives will no longer be visible to human eyes.  It is now symbolic.
(The holy Shekinah glory left from the Mount of Olives during the days of Ezekiel.  Ezekiel 11:23)

The New Jerusalem actually lands on this cleansed area.
(This is implied in Scripture, though not specifically stated. You will see it clearer as we move to the last chapters of Revelation)

The lost will look upon the glorified and beautiful saints, and will realise their own appearance is vastly different.   They now know they can never inhabit the city.

Of course Satan has been watching, and making plans.

“And (he) shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle.”
Revelation 20:8.

What deception do you think he has in mind?

To take the city.

After all, he now has a huge army of men who were generals of armies through the centuries.  Many died in battle and when they are resurrected, their thoughts will continue where they left off.

At this time in the great controversy, it appears that Satan will be visible to all.  Isaiah says of him, “They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;  that made the world a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof:  that opened not the house of his prisoners?”   Isaiah 14:16.17.
(The prophecy likens Lucifer to a man, but it is clearly speaking of Satan)

Now visible, Satan will move quickly through the vast host, preparing his tactics for the march on the holy city.  He will be looked upon ‘narrowly’, but as he is still an impressive angelic being, his charisma will capture the minds of the multitude.

Together with thousands of his sinful angelic assistants, Satan will harness every person who is capable of fighting into his army.

Before the army moves in for the attack, Jesus will be enthroned before the eyes of the vast throng.   This is the final coronation of God’s Son.  He will be invested with supreme majesty and power in the sight of the universe.

Then, as King of kings, He will pronounce sentence upon the lost.

In vision, John sees “the dead, small and great, stand before God;  and the books were opened:  and another book was opened which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works….

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it;  and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:  and they were judged every man according to their works.”
Revelation 20:12.13.  (The word ‘hell’ in this verse means ‘the grave’)

The blood of the faithful persecuted ones had cried out from martyrs graves, sepulchres of the sea, mountain caves, convent vaults – How long O Lord will thou not avenge our blood?

Now they will be avenged.   But first….

The vast host of lost souls will be given a review of their lives in a mighty panorama.   Beginning with the defection of Lucifer in heaven, they will see the great controversy and its progress from heaven to earth.    Century after century will be played before their eyes, and each person will see the part they played in earth’s history.

They will watch the passion of Christ and see the hateful plotting of the priests;  the agony in Gethsemane;  the betrayal;  the trial;  and the awful crucifixion where Christ was mocked, tortured and left to die.

The multitude will watch in wonder, unable to turn from the scene.   Every question will be answered.   They will see who led them astray and the process by which they refused to make a decision for eternity.   They will learn how often the Spirit of God and holy angels tried to win them to Jesus.  They will recognise their refusal to surrender.

Eventually the multitude will realise the treasure they have lost, and how much God did for their salvation.

Spontaneously, every single man, woman and angel will fall to their knees before God the Father and His beloved Son.  It will not be by compulsion, but a realisation of the greatness of the divine Majesty and how marvellous are His works.

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:9-11.

Every one now knows God is righteous and just. Even Satan and his host bow low.

But it is a brief moment.

Minds have not changed.  It is not a new beginning and a resolve to follow God.    No.    Even if admitted into heaven, the lost would immediately begin to corrupt the sacred abode.
(See Isaiah 26:10)

Suddenly Satan, fill with anger at his actions, rises from his knees and calls his army into action.

He goes out to “deceive the nations… Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle…”  Revelation 20:8.
(Gog and Magog were called Tartar or Scythians, fierce tribes north of Syria and Mesopotamia)

This is similar language to that used in a previous chapter.  Do you remember?

“…spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty…  and he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”
Revelation 16:14.16.

You will remember that the battle of Armageddon was designed to destroy the remnant, but it was cut short by the intervention of God.   Now it is resumed.

The devil does not give up.   He intends to destroy the remnant and now he will destroy their holy city as well.

The names Gog and Magog, although actual enemies of Israel in days gone by are now used symbolically, just as Armageddon is symbolic.

Ezekiel wrote prophetically, “And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land;  it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes…

And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face.  For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel…

And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.”   Ezekiel 38:16.18.19. 39:6.

When the lost realise their fate, they become extremely angry with Satan and his host.   The Deceiver’s power over the multitude has ended.

All is hopeless.

Filled with revenge, earth’s lost billions turn on the rebellious angel and his companions, and anyone they come across who had a part in the loss of their salvation.

In the setting of Gog and Magog, Ezekiel wrote, “And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord God:  every man’s sword shall be against his brother.”
Ezekiel 38:21. (This was fulfilled prior to the coming of Christ; it is fulfilled again here)

Man’s final hatred will have reached its peak.

Ezekiel’s next verse will have its major application.  “And I will plead
(shaphat – executive judgment) against him with pestilence and with blood;  and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.”  Ezekiel 38:22.

Still surrounding the city, but now in complete disarray, Christ as Judge, conducts the execution.

“And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city:  and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”
Revelation 20:9.

This is the second death.

John continues.  “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever…

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.   This is the second death.   And whosever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”   Revelation 20:10.14.15.

The beast and the false prophet are not in another lake of fire, but it is language that reminds us of their fate at the return of Christ.   It was fire then;  it will be fire again.

“Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible
(consuming, burning) tempest:  this shall be the portion of their cup… for the righteous Lord loveth righteousness.”  Psalm 11:6.7.

Then Christ will remake this earth into its Edenic beauty.

After this earth is renewed, the redeemed will live in joy and happiness for eternity.

In one way, it will be as if sin never took place.   But for us to never forget the cost of our salvation, Jesus will always bear  the scars in His hands and His feet.

“The assembly of the wicked have inclosed me:  they pierced my hands and my feet.”
Psalm 22:16   “Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands....”   Isaiah 49:16.    (There is a continuing debate as to whether Jesus received the nails of the crucifixion in the palms of His hands or in His wrists.   When we get to heaven, Jesus will show us and we will be satisfied)

God’s counsel to us is, “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.”
Isaiah 55:6.

There will come a time when it will be too late, so please do not delay.   Ask yourself -- Have I really given my heart to Jesus?    Do not wait until you see the great white throne.

Make certain your heavenly record book is up-to-date.

No.28.

In this study, we will see the climax to this world of sin.   It is where God administers His justice for the last time.

“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.”
Revelation 20:1.   This is the fifth time “bottomless pit” has been mentioned, twice relating to Islam and twice to the Illuminati.  (They come out of the chaos of gross error and corruption)

“And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years;  And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled:  and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
Revelation 20:2.3.

First of all, the “bottomless pit” is not a deep pit without a bottom, and the devil is not bound by a great chain.   These are symbols.

Notice the reason Satan is in the bottomless pit – “that he should deceive the nations no more.”
Revelation 20:3.

Go back in your mind to the events of previous chapters.

Jesus has returned and taken His people to their heavenly home in the New Jerusalem.   The enemies of Christ have been slain and no one is left alive.   The earth is a complete mess.  Everything is in ruins, from homes to cathedrals, forests to gardens.

Isaiah pictures the scene.   “The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.”
Isaiah 24:19.

It is this condition that describes the earth as the “bottomless pit” – a vast wasteland and wilderness.

Satan is therefore powerless.

His hands are tied so to speak.  Or we might say, the devil is bound by a chain of circumstances, for this is the reality of his condition.

How long will he be in this position?

One thousand years.

This is the millennium.   It is the ‘longed-for thousand years of peace’.    Sadly, the predicted rule of Christ on earth during this time is a false hope.   It will not take place.

Instead, Satan is confined to an abyss of broken buildings and the bones of dead bodies.    Much will have turned to ash, but the remainder will be a wasteland from north to south, east to west.   His angelic sinful companions will be a source of annoyance to the devil, for cursings, accusations and arguments will continue day after day, year after year.

Thankfully, God’s people will not hear these lamentations, as they will be in heaven, many light years away.

What will the saints be doing?

“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:  and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands;  and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
Revelation 20:4.

John’s eyes are upon the holy city and the end-time martyrs, who are now on thrones of glory with the redeemed of all ages.

While Satan and his angels are lamenting their fate on a desolate earth, God’s beloved saints are rejoicing in the kingdom of glory.

What are they doing in heaven?

The verse says, “judgment was given unto them.”   Revelation 20:4.   We have spoken of judgment a number of times, but we need to review it so we can be absolutely clear who is being judged.

In 1844, the investigative judgment began for all who have accepted Christ and by faith have their names in the Book of Life.    It begins with the dead who professed a belief in the Saviour to come.  Each name is considered, and some are rejected because sin was not overcome through Christ and the power of His Spirit.

Please note, the judgment is not based on good works outweighing the bad, like balances in the scales.   Not at all.

Remember our study on the seven churches?

“To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life.”
Revelation 2:7.11.17.26. 3:5.12.21.  The gifts are all for the “overcomer” who will have “beauty adorning the inner temple”.  Christ’s Object Lessons p420.

It is Christ’s own unblemished character that has been imparted to them – imputed for justification and imparted for sanctification.

As the Father presents each name from the Book of Life, the recording angels gives evidence as to whether the person has been victorious, and whether ‘pardon’ has been written over the record of each sin.

If not, Jesus must remain silent.   His shed blood cannot cover one who has not overcome.   The name is then blotted out of the Book of Life.    However, the record of sin remains in heaven’s books, as it must come up again in the judgment of the lost.

But for those who wear the wedding garment , Jesus will stand to His feet, raising His nail-pierced hands.   He will confess the name of the believer before His Father and before the holy angels.

“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment;  and I will not blot out his name out of the book  of life, but will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”
Revelation 3:5.

Then the entire record of sin will be erased, never to be revealed.    God’s people will be as if they have never sinned.

This is the final justification of the redeemed.

The investigation of those who claim to ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb is portrayed in the parable.  “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son…. and the wedding was furnished with guests.

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment.  And he said unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment.  And he was speechless.

Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness;  there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Matthew 22:2.10-14.   (Note the last sentence – few are chosen in the judgment)

Yes, there will be a trial, for we must “all stand before the judgment seat of Christ”.  Romans 14:10.   And it begins with those who profess to be Christians, for “judgment must begin at the house of God”.   1 Peter 4:17.

Our original text was dealing with those who are taken to heaven at the return of Christ.   It says, “judgment was given unto them.”
Revelation 20:4.   Paul tells us, “…the saints shall judge the world?…”  1 Corinthians 6:2.

He then asks, “Know ye not that we shall judge angels?…”
1 Corinthians 6:3.

Angels?      It will be very revealing.

It is another investigative judgment, a trial in which the records of the lost are examined.   Most names have never been placed in the Book of Life, and those whose names were taken from it will now have their record of sin investigated.

Imagine it.   God’s people will hear every detail of every person’s life.    How many sins were done in secret, with the thought that no one would ever know.   Every sin will be opened before the redeemed.

Yes, everything will be revealed, for “God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
Ecclesiastes 12:14.  2 Corinthians 5:10.

God will “bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts…”
1 Corinthians 4:5.

Not only will the wicked deeds be revealed, but also their hidden thoughts, their motives and the secret intentions of the heart.  This judgment will be the most intense and revealing judgment of all time.

My friend, how important it is to repent and confess our sins now.  Who would want every secret thought revealed in heaven’s court?

After each name has been investigated, the saints, in harmony with Jesus, will pass judgment upon the wicked dead, and together they will decide the intensity of the punishment.

It will take one thousand years to complete this judgment, but of course for the redeemed it will be heaven’s time and not earth-time.

Down on earth, Satan and his evil host will live dreary day by dreary day contemplating their lot.
